This week I have the witty and truly hilarious Heather McDonald joining us.  Heather is a comedian and the host of a podcast called Juicy Scoop.  In this episode, we discuss being a comedian in an easily "triggered" culture, her background and upbringing with wild brothers, and her time working with Chelsea Handler.  We also discuss the importance of having open conversations with our kids, especially around tough topics like drug abuse.

This week I have the witty and truly hilarious Heather McDonald joining us.  Heather is a comedian and the host of a podcast called Juicy Scoop.  In this episode, we discuss being a comedian in an easily “triggered” culture, her background and upbringing with wild brothers, and her time working with Chelsea Handler.  We also discuss the importance of having open conversations with our kids, especially around tough topics like drug abuse. Heather shares some pretty funny stories with us throughout the show, and she definitely had me laughing.  I hope you guys enjoy!

The world of comedy has certainly changed since Heather’s days on Chelsea Lately.  Comedians have to be careful about what they say, and often censor their acts to accommodate a crowd.  Heather believes it’s important to change, but at the same time, are we all seriously that “triggered” by everything?!  Our philosophy is, if you are easily triggered, don’t listen. Because we talk about some pretty radical shit here on Recovering From Reality.

With that being said, Heather and I also recognize we’re not experts in everything.  We are simply sharing our stories, and if we can help others in that process, that’s amazing.  Truth is, I barely edit this podcast! Because I want to be real with you guys.

Heather and I may not share the same kind of traumatic past, but we can definitely still relate to one another.  I know that changing ourselves for the better, especially as parents, can create positive change in our kids as the next generation.  I love that she embraces her story, and uses her talent to share it.

When it comes to cancel culture, we need to understand that people can change. There is something to be said about time.  It takes time to change.
